URINARY TRACT SYSTEM

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is also known as cystitis or a bladder infection. It is an infection that occurs in one or more parts of the urinary tract. It is usually caused by a bacterial infection. Symptoms include a painful, burning sensation when peeing and the need to pee frequently, even though very little urine comes out.

INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS

Interstitial cystitis causes inflammation of the bladder.

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is not considered a UTI - although it is frequently misdiagnosed as one. On average there is a 4 year delay before most patients receive a correct diagnosis. IC is a painful condition which arises from inflammation of the bladder wall. It is usually accompanied by an urgent need to pee frequently which is why it often misdiagnosed as a UTI.

WIPING AFTER A BOWEL MOVEMENT

Avoid wiping from back to front after a bowel movement to prevent UTI's and vaginitis.
