Atherosclerosis is name for the process where fatty deposits build up in the walls of the arteries causing them to narrow. This is the primary cause of heart disease.

ANGIOPLASTY SURGERY

Coronary Angioplasty Surgery
Coronary angioplasty is a medical procedure used to open narrowed or blocked arteries of the heart. A small device which has a balloon on the end is inserted into the blocked artery and inflated to stretch it. It is then removed. For a permanent solution a small metal stent can be inserted into the artery to keep it open long term.

Coronary artery bypass surgery is a major surgical procedure which is used for treating blockages in the arteries which supply the heart with blood.

Xanthelasmata

Xanthelasmata: Fatty deposits around the eyes. Doctors used to think it was a sign of heart disease, but this is no longer the case. It is a common symptom of diabetes however.

EAR LOBE CREASE

Ear lobe crease can be a sign of heart disease.

Arcus Corneae

Arcus corneae: Grey ring around the eye. This condition is not now thought to be linked to high cholesterol.

RAYNAUD'S PHENOMENON

Note blue tinge to fingers. Raynaud’s phenomenon is a condition where cold temperatures or strong emotions cause blood vessels to spasm so that blood flow to the fingers, toes, ears and nose is temporarily blocked. Atheroschlerosis, the buildup of fatty deposits in blood vessels is a major cause.
